Abstract
505,379. Liquid-meters. ALFA-LAVAL CO., Ltd., and CORDEROY, N. Nov. 17, 1937, No. 31605. [Class 143] In a device for measuring milk or other liquid, of the kind in which a counter or indicator is actuated by the oscillation of a pair of buckets 7 mounted below one or more apertures through which the liquid flows to fill the buckets alternately as they rock, the aperture, or each aperture, is provided with a valve seat on whch rests a valve having a lower part projecting through the aperture and adapted to be engaged directly by one or more members attached to the buckets so as to raise it when either bucket is in the filling position. In the flow recorder for a milking- machine shown, the milk flows from an upper compartment 2 through a pair of sleeves 5 into one or other of the tilting pair of buckets 7 mounted on a knife edge 6 in the lower compartment 1. A ball-valve 14 normally closes the reduced lower end of the sleeve and projects below it so that it is engaged and raised by one of a pair of rods 15 extending across the buckets when either bucket is in filling position. The movements of the buckets are limited by adjustable stops 8, and are transmitted to the counter by a striker 10 engaging a toothed wheel 11 on a transmission shaft.
