Abstract

194,296. American Type Founders Co., (Assignees of Kelly, W. M.). Aug. 6, 1921, [Convention date]. Delivery apparatus.- The delivery mechanism of a cylinder machine is so arranged that it can be raised to enable the operator to pass between the delivery table and the bed to have access to the forme. The invention is especially applicable to printing- machines . having bed-reciprocating motions as described in Specification 184,175. The sheets after being printed are stripped from the cylinder by strippers and delivered by rollers to tapes 260 and cords 266 mounted in a frame 261 pivoted at 262. The tapes and cords are driven by gearing from the impression cylinder so arranged that frame 261 can be raised about its pivot without disturbing, the driving connection. When so raised, the operator can pass between the bed and the delivery table, which occupies a position to the right of the frame 261, Fig. 2, and access to the forme is thus rendered easy. The delivery rollers 319 are mounted in bifurcated arms frictionally held to the shaft 300 by a spring-pressed radial plunger 325 mounted in a member eccentric to shaft 300, and adapted to exert a greater frictional resistance on the arms when the rollers 319 are raised. Normally, however, the arms can slide along the shaft 300 readily.
