Channelling or slitting apparatus.-A machine for cutting, grooving, or marking clays, lignite, peat, &c., comprises a trolley 10 with handles 24 and mounted on rear wheels 11 and front wheels 16, the latter being carried by an L-shaped frame 15 pivoted to a shaft 17 and adjusted by a screw &c. 22 to vary the depth of cutters 27 which are carried by a shaft 28 supported on the trolley and driven through worm gearing 30, 31 from a motor 9; the machine is propelled by worm gearing 34, 35 operated by hand.
