Abstract

155,686. Law, J. A., (Universal Planer Co.). Oct. 17, 1919. Planing.-A hand-plane provided with a powerdriven rotary cutter 12 is provided with a flexible base 5 adapted to be adjusted, as by means of nuts 2 working on screw-threaded rods 3, to the curvature of the wood to be planed. The cutter is driven by an electric motor 10 through gearing 16, 15, 14, and its shaft is mounted on a carrier 7 hinged at one end to the main frame by a flexible strip 11 and supported at the other end by nuts 18 adjustable upon a bolt 8 which is pivoted at 9 to the main frame, the amount of projection of the cutter blades beyond the base 5 being thereby adjustable.
