Abstract

Roller - and - breast mills.-A mill for grinding paints, enamels, inks, and other viscous materials comprises a rotating and axially reciprocating roller D and a relatively fixed toothed grinding-block F extending longitudinally of the roller and mounted in a frame G so as to be adjustable circumferentially and radially of the roller. The block is loosely mounted on a screwed rod H engaging a nut G<1> in the frame G and terminating in an adjusting wheel or handle H<1>. One or more screwed rods F' secured to the block and passing through the outer side of the frame G, where they are secured by nuts F<2>, allow the block to be adjusted laterally against the side of the frame G nearest the hopper to prevent the material from flowing from the hopper between the frame and block. The face of the block nearest the roller is slightly concave, and the teeth are obliquely arranged thereon.
