Abstract

Cooling-towers.-A series of horizontally disposed bars or laths d is arranged below and at right angles to the usual secondary distributing gutters a at the top of the tower, the laths being set at an inclination or provided with inclined surfaces so that the liquid is spread thereby in thin streams over the gridwork e below. The gutters may have perforations f in their sides, or be fitted with discharge pipes k at the base, to deliver the water in jets. The bars may be of rectangular or triangular section.
