Abstract
473,900. Cooling-towers. MOUCHEL & PARTNERS, Ltd., L. G., and GUERITTE, A. T. J. April 21, 1936, No. 11409. [Class 29] A part of the water is delivered from the usual feed troughs a through end nozzles c against the wall f of the tower, down which it flows as a film and from which it is deflected back by projecting ribs &c. g on to laths h, Fig. 6. These laths are set nearly horizontally and may be perforated as shown at m, the laths o of the main part of the usual stack being set nearly vertically. Alternatively, the water may be delivered to channels l, Fig. 7, on the outside of the wall from which it flows as films to lower channels z having nozzles p leading it back into the tower on to horizontal splash laths h. By this arrangement it is possible to slope the base of the walls of towers of hyperboloidal shape more gradually than formerly, as shown in Fig. 2.
