Brakes, arrangement and disposition of.- Brakes on steering-wheels comprise pivoted segments 6 having inclined end plates 11 acted upon by a loose ball 12 situated in line with the steering pivot 4. The ball is operated by a rotatable cap 13 screwed upon the fixed pivot pin 4, so that when the cap is rotated by an arm 15 it is moved axially and operates the brake segments through the ball 12. In a modification, the cap 13 and the ball are at opposite ends of a hollow pivot pin, the cap operating the ball through a pin sliding axially in the pivot.
