Abstract

15,145. Abraham, G. W. Oct. 26. Breech actions, movable barrel other than drop-down; barrels; firing-appliances.-Relates to the gun described in Specification 9107/15, in which a large number of cartridges in short barrels are fired in quick succession, each cartridge after the first being ignited by the back-flash from the preceding cartridge. According to the invention, the channel 10 for the flash is obstructed at the base of each cartridge by a wedge or knife-edge 18, which projects into an ignition chamber 15 in the cartridge with its edge lying across the firing- hole at the bottom thereof. When a cartridge is fired, the back-flash'is divided by the wedge 18, one half being directed backwards and lost, while the other half is directed along the passage 10 to the ignition chamber of the next cartridge and through the firing-hole thereof.
