[Addition to 8455/10] Fixed-abutment type; balancing moving parts. -In rotary engines &c. having outwardly sliding vanes bearing on a rotating ring fitted with balancing-chambers, as described in the parent Specification, the unbalanced forces exerted by the vanes b on the ring e are counterbalanced by admitting pressure fluid through a duct g to a chamber f open to the ring e. The fluid pressure may be supplied by a centrifugal pump at a pressure dependent upon the speed of the rotary engine &c. A reducing valve with a variable load dependent upon the same factor may be used to control the pressure. Instead of fluid pressure, a weight or spring pressure operating through rollers may be used.
