Abstract

13,815. Deventer, H. R. van. Oct. 1, 1914, [Convention date]. Magnetos, driving.-In a make-and-break igniter, fixed and movable contacts 4, 3 are mounted in a body 2 secured in the cylinder wall. The flange 5 of the body 2 has projecting arms 6, 7 and a boss 8 forming a bearing for a shaft 9 to which is fastened a trip lever 11 with upwardly-extending arms 13, 14, one on each side of a magneto finger 30, and a downwardly-extending piece 12 adjacent to an arm 23 forming part of the spindle of the movable contact 3. The shaft 9 also carries a trip 15 operated from the engine by a push-rod 16. Springs 19, 20, 25 return the parts suddenly to their original positions as soon as the push-rod 16 rides over the end of the trip 15. The magneto may be removed and any other ignition device substituted without affecting the actuation of the igniter trip mechanism.
