Abstract

Mounting and securing wheels &c. on shafts.-In an electric ignition system for an internal-combustion engine wherein the phase of the magneto armature is synchronized with the mechanism for breaking the circuit to produce the spark, the armature is driven by gearing which may be of the type described in Specification No. 12,402, A.D. 1907, one wheel g of such gearing being mounted on a helically-threaded sleeve e which rotates with the shaft b but can receive an independent endlong movement from the lever d through the rod c to vary the angular position of the wheel g relatively to the shaft. The rod c is connected with the mechanism for breaking the circuit when a mechanically-operated make and-break is used. In the case of a magneto with an oscillating armature, the device is used for varying the angular position of the eccentric-pin which oscillates the armature.
