Abstract

Actuating by pulsating fluid pressure; camactuated pumps; single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; regulating by varying power of motor.-A lubricating-pump for internal-combustion engines is actuated by the pressure in the engine cylinder by means of a piston d exposed on the underside to the engine pressure. The piston reciprocates between seats c, c<1> and carries a pawl c, which actuates a ratchet i carrying a cam j to actuate the pump plunger. A spring h returns the pawl and piston d during the suction stroke of the engine. The stroke of the piston d may be varied by adjusting the seat c<1>. An adjustable screw valve w on the suction pipe regulates the flow of oil into the pump.
