Abstract

11,879. Spencer, F. Aug. 17. India-rubber springs. -Relates to buffer, draw, and like springs of the kind comprising pads of india-rubber adapted to be compressed between compression or abutment plates or members. To prevent corrosion and reduce wear, (1) when the rubber pads bare provided with a plain or perforated plate or ring a moulded therein to act as a confining member, a layer f of vulcanite or other comparatively hard rubber is interposed between the pad and the plate or ring, (2) the removable confining-members, if employed, and the compression or abutment plates are covered at parts or wholly with vulcanite or other comparatively hard rubber. The parts of the pads adapted to bear against the compression, or abutment plates may be faced with vulcanite &c. as described in Specification 11,413/14. Specifications 7806/96 and 7806A/96 also are referred to.
