[Class 97 (ii)] To protect the level-indicator from shocks, a builders' level has a resilient butt provided with a plane surface for contact with a surface to be tested. A recessed rubber pad 5 may be secured to the stock 4 by screws 6 as shown. The outer surface of the pad 5 may be protected by a plate of metal or synthetic resin. In a modification springs may be interposed between a plate and the end of the level 4 or between the pad 5 and level 4.
