Abstract

10,027. Garnett, W. G. July 9. Clutches, claw; operating clutchcs.-In sliding-pin positive clutches operated by external cams for driving power presses, guillotine shears, &c., the pin 7 slides in a slot in the shaft 1 and has an extension 11 pressed outwards by a spring 13, so that the pin normally engages one of two recesses 10 in a collar 9 screwed to the driving-pulley 6. A cam-lever 14 is carried by a rock-shaft 15 operated by a footlever 21 and spring 22 so that, when the cam 14 is moved into the path of the extension 11, the clutch is disengaged with the shaft in a predetermined position. A pin 24 may be inserted into the frame 25 to retain the lever 21 in its lowered position with the cam 14 swung aside and the clutch in engagement.
