Abstract
3186. Shaw, H. S., and Shaw, W. H. Feb. 27. Interconnecting guard with starting-gear.-In a device for preventing an opener, scutcher, or like machine from being started until the cage door and beater cover are closed and locked, as described in Specification 13,794/14, a bar a sliding along a spindle c is provided with pins d, e which lock the beater cover band the cage door f respectively A pin f<2> on the door f engages a slot in a bell-crank lever g, so that when the door is opened about its hinge f<1>, an arm g<3> on the lever moves into the path of the pin e. This prevents the bar a from moving inwardly and releasing the beater pulley until the door f is closed. In a modification, the arm g<3> is jointed to the lever g, so that it moves endways into the path of the pin e.
