Abstract

Interconnecting protector with starting-gear.- Relates to devices for locking the beater cover and inspection door or window of cotton and like opening machinery while the machine is in motion, and for preventing the starting of the machine unless the cover and door are completely closed. On an axially slidable member H are arms F, G. The arm F is provided with a pin K and lug M, which, in the position shown, with the machine in motion, respectively engage a hole L in the beater cover A and the inspection door B, and thus lock the cover and door. When the slide H is removed to withdraw the pin K and lug M from the locking position, s pin in the arm G engages one of a series of holes D in the driving-pulley C, thus preventing the machine from being started. To prevent the pin from being disengaged from the pulley C and the machine, started while the cover A or door B are open, the surface 0 of a lug N on the arm F and the surface P on the lug M respectively engage the edges of the cover A and door B during the whole time they are open.
