Abstract

Regulating.-In mixed - pressure turbines wherein exhaust steam is drawn from a bell accumulator and the change-over to live steam and vice versa is effected by a pressure-sensitive device when the bell is a little above its lowest position, means are provided for preventing the change-over from taking place due to the action of the safety-valve when the bell is in its highest position. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which a collar k on the piston-rod of the regulator c is engaged by a lever i when a tappet g on the bell a lifts a rod h. Modifications are described in which the regulator c is locked by means of an electric solenoid, by live steam, or by fluid pressure from an independent source, when the bell is in its highest position.
