Abstract
18,156. Warwick Machinery Co., [Vereinigte Dampfturbinen Ges.]. Aug. 10. Plant.-Steam after acting on the stage a of a turbine is led by a conduit e to a heating or cooking system. In the event of the exhaust steam being more than sufficient for the requirements of the heating system, the excess is by-passed through a valve d to a further turbine stage b. The valve d is operated by a servo-motor c, the pilot valve i of which is actuated by a piston h, subjected below to atmospheric presure and the pressure of an adjustable spring g, and above to a fluid pressure proportional to, but lower than, the pressure in the conduit e. This fluid pressure is transmitted through a pipe f containing a reducing- valve k. To prevent the pressure on the upper side of the piston h from rising to the pressure that exists in the conduit e, the space above the piston is connected to the atmosphere by a number of small holes l formed in the piston, or by means of a pipe, shown dotted in the drawing and having a throttle valve m.
