Lubricants for machinery.-A lubricant consists of an emulsion of relativelv insoluble liquids, one of which has comparatively low internal friction, the diameter of the suspended particles being 0À001 mm. or less. Emulsions of oil or fat in water, in aqueous solutions as of soap, or, where evaporation may be rapid, in glycerine or an aqueous solution of glycerine, are typical. Suitable emulsifying-apparatus is described in Specifications 7498/12, 23,653/13, 25,265/13, and 18,048/14, [all in Class 81 (i), Disinfecting &c.].
