9655. Davy, W. April 18. Regulating delivery by varying speed and power of motor.-A feed-pump regulator of the type comprising a valve arranged in the steam supply pipe and controlled by a differential piston acted on by steam pressure and by the outlet pressure of the feed-pump, has the main actuating piston formed with a chambered part adapted to work over a piston fixed to the cover. The valve b is coupled by a rod d to the actuating-piston c which is loaded by a spring i adjusted by a hand-wheel k. Steam pressure is transmitted through a pipe f, normally filled with water, to the upper side of a piston c. The piston c is fitted with suitable packing c' and is chambered to work over a fixed piston h also provided with suitable packing. The space above the fixed piston is connected to the outlet of the pump by a duct m and pipe g.
