Abstract
24,073. Weir, G. & J., and Petermoller, J. Oct. 24. Regulating.-To maintain automatically the discharge pressure of the centrifugal pump p, supplying feed-water to a boiler, the discharge passes through a convergent-divergent nozzle b, which at the constricted part communicates by way of a pipe f with a cylinder d in which is a piston n connected to the throttle valve h of the turbine t which drives the pump. The upper side of the piston n is subjected to the boiler pressure. A diaphragm may be used instead of a piston. In a modification, the pump is electrically driven and the piston n operates the rheostat of the motor. The application of the invention to two or more pumps working in parallel is described.
