Abstract

[Addition to 24,739/12.] Piston pumps.-In place of the two separate valves for allowing a transfer of oil from the oil-chamber to the pump cylinder as described in the parent Specification, the single valve 13 through which the pump rod 10 passes is alone employed. The valve is maintained open against the pressure of the spring 15, which beds upon the cross-bar 16, on the upward stroke of the piston so as to admit a small amount of oil to the cylinder. Thus as the piston is approaching its upward limit it abuts against the valve and causes it to remain open until it descends again when the spring reacts and closes the valve. As in the parent Specification, two passages 22, 23, open from the pump cylinder to the suction chamber 24 so as to assist in the raising of the piston.
