Wheel guards and obstruction-removers. - Buffer bars, particularly for motor-vehicles, are made of brass tubing filled with concrete or other plastic material, and are connected to the vehicle by leaf springs. As shown in Fig. 2, the buffer bar 4 is connected to a leaf spring 8 bent at 5 and clipped to the frame of the vehicle by a cap 12 and yoke 13. In cases where the frame does not extend beyond the body, the springs 38, Fig. 6, are straight and are secured to bars 24 fixed to the vehicle by hooks 30 engaging brackets 32. Jaws 27 prevent vertical displacement. An abutment is provided on the bars 24 to take rearward thrusts. The bracket 32 serves to support the mud-guard 51 and lamp bracket. A curved abutment 44 is provided against which the laminated springs 38 bear.
