Pendants. - An incandescent electric lamp, particularly for street and railway illumination, is carried by a bridge-piece e slidably mounted on guiding- rods b and having one or more nose-pieces i adapted to engage with steps or notches on a bar g mounted parallel to the guides b, the bar having inclined slots engaging fixed studs so that, when the bar is pushed upwards by means of a push-button l on the lamp-reflector m, it moves laterally and releases the nose-pieces i. The bar drops by its weight into the engaged position, and the steps or notches are in the form of ratchet-teeth so that the bridge-piece e may be raised without holding the bar in its raised position. The supporting-device is enclosed in a cover or bell a, and one of the guide-rods is provided with an insulating-ring through which the wires are threaded, this ring moving with the holder.
