Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical and volute springs. - The flanged inner rim a and the flanged rigid outer rim b are formed with internal inclined surfaces co-operating with similar surfaces on pairs of segmental plates c pressed apart by powerful volute springs d. The plates are held together temporarily by bolts so as to be inserted through gaps g in the flanges, which are afterwards filled by blocks h, on which the ends of each group of plates abut and slide. The driving-connexion consists of a projection k and jaws j. Specification 8935/08, which describes a wheel similar in principle, is referred to.
