Abstract

100,844. Butcher, J. J. July 2, 1915, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical springs.-Relates to wheels of the kind in which elements fitted with helical springs which are compressed simultaneously are carried bv an inner rim and have limited circumferential sliding movement on the outer rim. Each spring X, Fig. 2, surrounds a cup E bolted to the inner rim and formed at its end with spaced radial fingers E' holding the spring and moving between similar fingers N formed in the hollow base of a shoe L. This shoe is in two parts bolted together transversely, and has flanges T at the sides sliding in grooves between the side plates and outer rim. Each side of the shoe has a lip M which engages under similar lips K on the sides of a shoe I fixed at J so as not to turn upon the inner rim. The bolts V, Fig. 9, connecting the side plates pass through notches R in lugs on the inner rim.
