4402. Birchenwood Colliery Co., and Mason, F. J. Feb. 20. Combinations of interdependent valves.- A tap or cock for discharging the contents of casks &c. has an air vent tube D arranged to pass through the valve stem A and out at the bend, as shown. The tube D is provided with a separate tap G, which may be replaced by a ball valve closed by gravity. A stuffing-box and gland F, E are provided, so as to enable the height of the tube D to be adjusted.
