Abstract

26,730. Callaway, E. Nov. 17. Packing, removable containers for; tightening during repacking. -The packing for a valve-spindle is held in a removable casing r secured in a socket p in the usual stuffing-box by a nut t. By unscrewing the nut t from the box, the casing r can be raised to allow the spindle to be unscrewed until the valve e closes the way through the valve seat. Repairs to the stuffing-box or other parts can then be effected in safety.
