19,239. Trigwell, J. R. Aug. 16. Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-A screw stopper a contains a valve c, on to the stem of which is screwed a spout b, so that pressure on the spout opens the valve. The valve is returned to its seat, and a tight joint obtained between the valve-stem and the valve-body by a conical rubber disk e.
