Lift valves; packing.-In a screw-down valve of the kind which is normally open and in which the pressure tends to keep the valve on its seat, the collar f on the screwed stem is arranged in a cap h as shown, the act of unscrewing the valve off its seating forcing the collar against the face g of the valve body, thereby preventing leakage. A washer k is used.
