Inertia governors.-In an internal-combustion engine, the fuel-admission valve 17 is actuated by a cam 10 on the crank-shaft by means of a pendulum lever 12 pivoted at 25. The lever, which is provided with an adjustable weight 28, is normally held towards the cam by a spring 27 so that the cam bowl follows the recess 31 in the cam and the valve is fully opened. When the speed is excessive the bowl is thrown out by the projection 32 to such an extent that it does not enter the recess or only partly enters it. The tension of the spring 27 may be adjustable. A second projection 30 on the cam opens the valve 14 to admit compressed air for injecting the fuel. The invention is described as applied to an engine constructed as described in Specification 20,286/13, [Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of].
