Abstract

2498. Sloper, T. Jan. 30. Moulding wheel tyres.-Relates to improvements in tyre moulds of the type comprising side plates B and tread segments C thrust forward by bolts F carried in a thrust - ring D. The segments C are permanently connected to the thrust-ring by bolts E, which pass loosely through the ring and may be surrounded by springs E' to facilitate the withdrawal of the segments. The segments are guided by an annular tongue D<4> on the ring engaging a channel C<2> on the segments. To bridge the gaps between adjacent segments, a lead or soft metal band, or T-pieces G held in place by pins G<2>, may be employed. The segments may be channelled at C<3> to receive a lead band K as described in Specification 20,180/06. The segments may be provided with projections C', Fig. 1, adapted to engage recesses B' in the side plates ; or, as shown in Fig. 3, the projections H<1> on the segments H may bear against shoulders on the side plates J.
