Cigarette-making machines.-Variations in the rate of feeding of the tobacco and the consequent variations in quality of the cigarettes owing to the varying condition of the tobacco are corrected by adjusting the speed of the forming mechanism. In the form illustrated in Fig. 2, a belt 17 running over conical pulleys 12, 13 connects the constant-speed power-shaft 10 with the forming- mechanism driving-shaft 15 and is adjustable on the pulleys by means of belt forks.
