Ovens; oven shelves.-The oven of a gas or other cooking-stove is provided with a fixed or removable double top A, B containing heat-insulating material E. In an existing oven, Fig. 3, the double top comprises a casing G with side flanges by which it is supported on the usual ledges H for the shelves, and may have a downwardly projecting flange g<1> at the front. The lower surface of the top is preferably enamelled or otherwise made heat-reflecting. A small hole C is provided beneath the top for the escape of hot gases, and a hit-and-miss or other ventilator is also provided beneath the top in the door or otherwise. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 590/75, 3247/83, 2728/86, 2661/06, 21,549/06, and 18,650/11.
