Paper and like bags.-Boxes or bags are made from blanks each half of which is shaped and scored as shown in Fig. 1, the halves being continuous along the crease line B C, and the edges E B, G C being connected by overlaps or by strips of adhesive material in the manner described in Specification 13,610/12. In order to erect the box or bag, the points H, I at the ends of slanting creases are pushed inwards, causing creases K L on each half of the blank to come into alinement, as shown in Fig. 2, and forming a bracing-structure of tetrahedral form at each end. The modified blank shown in Fig. 3 produces, when erect, a box in the form of a rectangular prism. The mouth of the bag or box is maintained closed by means of a carrying- cord passed through slots a into cross-slots b, the outer ends of the slots a being flared to facilitate entry of the cord, which is carried by one of the reinforcing-strips J, as described in Specification 20,784/11, [Class 133, Trunks &c.]. The blank may have extensions adapted to fold inwards, so that slots c in them may register with the slots a. In addition, a slot J terminating in slots J<1> may be provided to grip the cord.
