Regulating; working-fluid supply.-A mixedpressure turbine comprises a bucket-wheel 3, Fig. 1, driven by high-pressure steam, and bucket-wheels 7 driven by low-pressure steam. Low - pressure steam is admitted to a chamber 18, whence it passes into passages 24 and nozzles 25 to the first of the wheels 7. Live steam is admitted by one or more valves 9 of a governorcontrolled battery of valves to passages 10, formed in a bridge 15 in the chamber 18, and passes through nozzles 11 to the bucket-wheel 3, after which it passes through nozzles 27 to the first of the bucket-wheels 7. The adjacent nozzles 25, 27 may co-operate with ordinary vanes, as shown in Fig. 1, or with two - part vanes separated by a web 30, Fig. 6. Under abnormal conditions, low-pressure steam may be admitted from the chamber 18 to the nozzles 27 by way of a hand-operated valve 32, Fig. 3.
