Abstract

19,509. Clark, W., [Regina Co.]. Jan. 31. Vacuum cleaning-apparatus of the type in which the suction device is actuated from the travelling wheels comprises a cylindrical casing 1 closed at the front end by a cover 2 having a rotatably-mounted nozzle 3 and a spring 4 maintaining an air-tight connexion. The nozzle discharges into a dust-bag 7 which is prevented from being drawn into the pump by a screen 9. The pump consists of an horizontal central portion 11 with a suction chamber 17 communicating by valved openings with the belows chambers formed by the hinged sides 12,13, which are connected by a like 14 and are actuated by a link 18 connected to a crank 19 on a lay-shaft 20 having a spur-wheel 21 engaging a gear-wheel 22 on the shaft of the supporting-wheels 23. A projecting pin 25 on the handle engages a pivotallymounted stop 26 to tilt the machine, and the stop can be rotated out of the way when it is necessary to lower the handle.
