Abstract

18,613. Hall, J. W. Aug. 15. Lever-actuated pumps; stroke, varying.-In a pump for delivering fuel to an internal-combustion engine, of the type described in Specification 7793/12, wherein the fuel delivered is proportional to the pressure in the cylinder, the operating- piston L and the plunger J are connected by a lever K the fulcrum K<1> of which can be adjusted about the shaft K<3> by means of an arm K<2>. The tension of the spring L' may be adjusted as described in Specification 3724/14, or the spring may be replaced by an air cylinder. One or more chambers J<5>, L<4> containing heavy oil or other fluid packing surround the displacers J, L, with or without an additional chamber L<9> communicating with the atmosphere through which any leakage may be drawn off. In multiple pumps, the chambers J<5>, L<4>, L<9> of the several parallel barrels may be interconnected. According to the Provisional Specification, the lever K may be dispensed with and the displacers L, J made integral.
