12,134. Jurajda, J. May 24. Figured fabrics. - The gobelin-like fabrics known as " kilims " are woven by inserting, in the required positions across the fabric, one or more pairs of short-length wefts of various colours to correspond with one cross row of the design, then inserting one or more pairs of thin elastic wefts extending right across the fabric, and afterwards inserting the wefts corresponding to the next row of the design &c. The warp threads are raised by the jacquard in groups, and tabby sheds to receive the various coloured wefts are made in these groups by treadle-controlled shedding - mechanism, tabby sheds extending right across the fabric to receive the elastic wefts being also made by similar mechanism. The jacquard cards also actuate mechanism for controlling colour and number indicators for showing the operator when and where the coloured wefts are to be introduced.
