Abstract

11,014. Motsinger, H. N. Jan. 10, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Seats and faces.-In a carburettor for internal-combustion engines, the air and fuel valves are of the lift type and are so formed that equal increments of lift of the valve give equal increments of area. Assuming the fuel and air orifices to be of circular form, the Specification describes a method of determining mathematically the exact shape of valve necessary to fulfil the above condition. The shape of valve obtained approaches a paraboloid, a form which, it is stated, may be used where extreme accuracy is not required, but it is pointed out that the difference between approximating parabolas and the true form becomes more marked in valves wherein the lift is less than the orifice diameter.
