Abstract

8589. Hurlock, W. A. E. April 11. Piston apparatus for discharging receptacles.- Relates to grease and like injectors. The piston-rod 9, Fig. 1, screwing into the boss 8, may be detached from the piston and fixed in the supports 10, 11, for convenience in carrying. The piston, Figs. 3 and 4, has a plug 20 loosely fitting within it and provided with two longitudinal grooves 22, and a recess 23, so that, on screwing-in the pistonrod, the plug 20 is first rotated by the pin 14, Fig. 1, while it is passing through the grooves 22, and then the piston is forced longitudinally while the pin 14 is turning in the recess 23. A flap valve 26 covering the air passage 28, is provided to facilitate the retraction of the piston.
