Abstract

8582. Fischer, F. July 26, 1912, [Convention date]. Hydrogen peroxide, obtaining; electrodes. - An electrolyte saturated with oxygen or an oxygen mixture under a high pressure, say 100 atmospheres, yields hydrogen peroxide at the cathode, which may be of amalgamated gold. The electrolyte may be a 1 per cent solution of sulphuric acid, but other acids, salts, or bases may be used. Boric acid or other substances which promote stability of the peroxide can be added. A current of 5 amperes per square decimetre at 2 volts pressure may be used.
