Abstract
8150. Huggins, W. H., and Huggins, J. M. April 7. Couplings, disconnectible. - In a pipe coupling, a yoke 8, Figs. 2 and 3, is hinged to a pair of arms 6 pivoted at 7 to the member 1, and is adapted, when pressed against the coupling, to bear on pins 4 on the member 2 so as to retain them in slots 5 in the member 1. The yoke 8 is kept in position against the member 2 by a loose ring 12 having a slot to admit the lever 11 and an inclined inner wall to wedge it on rotating the ring. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the arms 6 are omitted, and the yoke is pivoted directly to the member 1. The member 2 is shaped to fit within the member 1 as shown in Fig. 3, packing 2<1> being provided.
