19,503. Thompson, M. H., and Kildear, J., [known as Gilbey, G.]. Sept. 1. Bayonet and like joints; couplings, disconnectible.-In bayonet-joint fastenings for coupling shafts or pipes, securing can lids, &c., one part b carries segmental projections d and a stop-pin h, with which engages similar projections f on the other part e. The projections f have recesses j, to enable them to clear the pins h when the parts are being assembled, and cam surfaces o, which force back a spring- pressed bolt l so that it snaps into one of the holes n in the projections f. The bolt t has a milled head p and a wedge projection q engaging a recess in the casing k, so that, to disengage the bolt, it is withdrawn and rotated a part of a revolution. A guide boss g on the part b engages within the part e.
