Abstract

883,008. Pipe couplings. JARNFORAD. LING A. B. June 9, 1959, No. 19659/59. Class 99(1). In a coupling, e.g. for compressed air conduits, identical coupling halves a, b, Fig. 1, have peripheral diametrically opposed engaging claws 1a, 1b which, on relative rotation of the coupling halves for locking engagement thereof slide respectively on to projections 3b, 3a between the claws 1b 1a and have locking surfaces 2a, 2b engaging the projections 3b, 3a respectively, the latter being at least as wide peripherally as the claws so as to be engaged thereby along their entire width. The projections 3a, 3b are provided with abruptly axially extending end bosses 5a, 5b which, when the coupling halves are connected, are moved along and past the locking surfaces 2b, 2a respectively and outside of the side faces of the claws 1b, 1a respectively, Fig. 4, so as to bear against the latter and lock them against return rotation, the claws being so arranged that when the coupling halves have been engaged they bear against each other in pairs whereby the rotational movement for engaging the coupling halves is limited. The projections 3a, 3b are also provided with beads 9a, 9b for co-operation with recesses 8b, 8a in the locking surfaces 2b, 2a. Sealing bushes 4a, 4b are provided between the coupling halves.
