739. Muskett, J. Jan. 11. Couplings, disconnectible, in which claws g on each member engage behind ledges on the other have inclined surfaces at both ends of the ledge, so that the parts may be coupled by rotation in either direction, and are provided with packing-rings forced together by fluid pressure. The claws ride up. the inclined end of the ledge, and engage in a central recess. The packing-ring d, which has a groove e<3>, is housed in an undercut groove, to which the fluid in the pipes gains access through holes c. The packing-ring shown is sprung into place from the face of the coupling, but provision may be made to introduce the packing-ring from the back, or removable parts may be fitted.
