Mills and apparatus. - In apparatus for reducing bark &c., the material is fed into a hopper 25, the sides of which are provided with semicircular or approximately semicircular recesses to fit peripheral grooves 24 in end plates 21, 22 between which cutting-disks 19 separated by distance-plates 20 are secured by bolts 23. The disks 19 are mounted on a shaft 14 rotated by gearing from the main shaft 5, and work in conjunction with a toothed cutting- plate 46, which is adjusted by the engagement with a flange 47 thereon of screws 44 mounted in projections 43 on plates 39, 40 secured to the framing and operated by hand-wheels 45. The hopper 25 is secured to plates fixed to the framing, and is provided with a hinged cover 35 and an inclined plate 38 to direct the material to the cutters. A hopper 31 delivers the cut .material on to a vibrating screen 52.
