Mills and apparatus.-Apparatus for cutting, breaking, and grinding bones, &c. consists of a rotating disk a with cutting teeth or edges c arranged in tangential lines, and against which the material is fed from a box h by means of a slide or follower w operated by a divided nut t' on a screwed shaft m<1>, which is turned by a handle and connected by gearing p, r to the shaft f of the cutting-disk. The divided nut t<1> may be moved in or out of engagement with the screw by means of a plate t<2>, which is provided with a handle t<5>, and has eccentric slots engaging studs t<4> on the two parts of the nut. A spring x is fitted on the shaft m<1> between the wheel p and the bearing n. The disk a is detachable from its supporting-wheel b, and the feed-box h has a hinged lid i and may be formed in one with or bolted to the casing d.
